Privacy Policy

Last updated: [DATE]

This policy explains what information ScaleHigher collects when you use this website or enquire about working with us, why we collect it, and the rights you have over it.

1. Who we are

This website is operated by Akin Ajibade, trading as "ScaleHigher" ("ScaleHigher", "we", "us", "our"). We are a growth consultancy based in the United Kingdom.

For any privacy matter, you can contact us at akin@scalehigher.co.uk.

Note for setup: ScaleHigher currently operates as a sole trader. If you register a limited company, replace this section with the company name, company number, and registered office address, and update the "data controller" reference throughout. If you appoint a formal contact for data matters, add their details here.

For the purposes of UK data protection law, we are the data controller of the personal data described in this policy.

2. What we collect

We only collect what we need. Depending on how you interact with us, this may include:

WhereWhat we collect
Application formYour name, business name, business type, approximate monthly revenue range, your email address, and the message you write describing your bottleneck.
Booking a callIf you book a call, the scheduling is handled by Calendly, which collects your name, email, chosen time, and any details you add.
EmailIf you email us directly, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message.
Technical dataStandard server and hosting logs (such as approximate location, browser type, and pages visited) collected automatically by our hosting provider for security and performance.

We do not intentionally collect any special category data (such as health, racial or ethnic origin, or political opinions). Please don't include such information in your messages.

3. Why we use it & our legal basis

Under UK GDPR we must have a lawful basis for using your data. We rely on the following:

  • To respond to your enquiry and assess fit — when you submit the application form or email us. Legal basis: legitimate interests (responding to someone who has approached us about our services) and/or steps taken at your request prior to entering a contract.
  • To arrange and hold calls with you. Legal basis: legitimate interests / pre-contract steps.
  • To run and secure the website. Legal basis: legitimate interests (keeping the site working and safe).
  • To comply with the law where we are required to. Legal basis: legal obligation.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for automated decision-making or profiling.

4. Who we share it with

We don't sell or rent your data. We share it only with the service providers ("processors") that help us run the business. These are:

ProviderPurposeLocation
FormspreeReceives and forwards your application form submissions to us by email.United States
CalendlyHandles call scheduling if you book a call.United States
VercelHosts the website and processes standard server logs.United States / global
Email providerDelivers and stores email we exchange with you.[e.g. Google Workspace — US/global]

We may also disclose data if required by law, or to protect our legal rights.

5. International transfers

Some of our providers (above) are based in the United States or operate globally, so your data may be transferred outside the UK. Where this happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards recognised under UK data protection law — such as the UK extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, the UK's International Data Transfer Agreement, or Standard Contractual Clauses — to ensure your data is given a similar level of protection as it has in the UK.

6. How long we keep it

We keep enquiry and application data only as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and for our legitimate business records. In practice:

  • If we don't end up working together: we keep your enquiry for up to [12–24 months], then delete it.
  • If we do work together: relevant records are kept for the duration of our engagement and for as long as required afterwards for legal, tax, and accounting purposes (generally up to 6 years).

You can ask us to delete your data sooner — see your rights below.

7. Your rights (UK & EU)

If you are in the UK or EU, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Ask us to delete your data ("right to erasure")
  • Restrict or object to how we use it
  • Request a portable copy of data you gave us
  • Withdraw consent at any time, where we relied on consent

To exercise any of these, email akin@scalehigher.co.uk. We'll respond within one month. You won't be charged, and exercising your rights won't count against you.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the UK regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), at ico.org.uk — though we'd appreciate the chance to put things right first.

8. Your rights (US & California)

If you are a US resident, you may have rights under your state's laws. In particular, under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request its deletion, to correct it, and to opt out of any "sale" or "sharing" of personal information.

We do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined under California law, and we do not use it for cross-context behavioural advertising. To exercise any US privacy right, email akin@scalehigher.co.uk. We will not discriminate against you for doing so.

9. Cookies & tracking

This website uses only what is necessary to function. We do not currently use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies for marketing.

Essential / functional

Basic cookies or similar storage may be used by our host (Vercel) to keep the site secure and working, and by Calendly if you open the booking widget. These are necessary for the site to operate.

Analytics (if enabled)

We may, now or in future, use privacy-friendly analytics to understand how the site is used (for example Vercel Analytics or Google Analytics). Where analytics or any non-essential cookies are used and the law requires it, we will ask for your consent through a cookie banner before they are set, and you'll be able to accept or reject them. This section will be updated to list any analytics tools actually in use.

Note for setup: If you add Google Analytics, advertising pixels (e.g. Meta Pixel), or any non-essential cookies, you must show a compliant cookie consent banner (required under UK PECR and EU law) and list those tools here. Until then, the essentials-only position above applies.

10. Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, and we use reputable providers who do the same. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and keep it confidential.

11. Children

This site and our services are intended for business owners and are not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18 (or under 13 in the US). If you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we'll delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll change the "last updated" date at the top. Significant changes will be made clear on this page.

This document is a general-purpose privacy policy provided as a starting point. It is not legal advice. Before relying on it, have it reviewed by a qualified solicitor — especially once you register a company or add analytics, payments, or other tools.
